Task 29: Sound Design

Sound is very important for a thriller. It creates suspense, and helps to quicken up the action scenes. This is why when planning my title sequence I spend a lot of time to think about my Soundscape. As a practice I have created an outside tension building soundscape, using the Imovie sound effects. I used sound effects such as barking, traffic, children talking to create a feel of a street/ outside. Towards the end i added some tense sound effects such as thunder, heart beating, footsteps to create tension and set the mood for the murder that's about to happen.

I then decided to create some very basic sound effects, that could be used to create a soundscape for the actual title sequence (as they are mine and not copyrighted) I used my phone to record these sounds, and then I edited them together in Imovie.

Over all I think my soundscape sound have:
  • traffic sounds
  • people talking
  • dogs barking
  • cars beeping
  • music playing
  • sound effects of items being picked up/ placed back down
  • girly laughter
  • perfume spraying
  • door opening/ closing
  • footsteps
  • deep breathing
  • heart beating
  • the sound of rubber gloves being put on
  • heels clicking
  • screaming
  • police sirens
