Task 26: Who Is Your Target Audience

My Target Audience
Which genre were most popular with Uk audiences and my own research?
Comedies, Action, and Animation were the most popular in the Uk. When i did my research i found that comedies, adventure and horror were the most popular. This shows that everyone enjoys comedies.

Which genre would you like to work in?
i would like to work in the horror genre, because it's a popular genre, so there's a demand in this genre. I also personally enjoy horror and believe it would be exciting and interesting to work in this genre. I also believe its achievable to work in this genre, as (good) comedy is immensely hard to produce.

Which Audience prefer this genre?
When i did my research i found out that mainly people aged 13-26. Both genres like horror, but it is slightly more popular with males. My research is slightly biased as i only interviewed middle class, irish/british people.

What else do i know about this group of people and what they want to see in a film?
I know that this type of audience likes films full of action and excitement. I know they like seeing dramatically epic show downs and final battles. They are also big into social media and online research about movies, So good marketing is important in order to appeal to them .

What might i have in my film that will attract or appeal to them?
I have a conflict between good and evil, and many high action fight scenes, which would appeal to them. I also have characters that are similar ages as the audience, making them more relatable.

Who could my target or core audience be, based on this research?
I believe that my core audience would be teenagers and young adults. All genres but leaning towards male dominated audience.

Who could my wider audience be? How do i know this?
-Females, as the story would future a strong female lead. Also the inhuman element is now very popular with girls due to vas media content like twilight, and supernatural.
-Also middle aged people, biased on my YouGov research below

The conjuring

 The shining

The audiences for the two horror films varied. They lack much in common. However both of the target audiences had a lot of money to spend monthly and enjoyed a wide range of entertainment. They also had similar sense of humour - both liked toilet humour. The audience for both of the films were middle aged and around similar areas (Scotland and England). From this i can conclude that a variety of people like horror, but they are all united with their similar humour.

Interaction
I also interacted with my target audience via twitter, asking them which idea they preferred. The majority liked an idea of a vampire better.
