27. Audience profile

Reflecting back on my previous research, this post will tell all about my target audience.

1) Which genres were the most popular with UK audiences and my own audience research?
Research shows that the most popular genres in the UK were animation, action and comedy. My own research concluded that people enjoy comedy, action and horror movies. Both sow that the comedy genre is very popular.

2) Which genre would I like to work in?
I would like to work in the horror genre as it is one of my favourite genres to watch and the conventions that come with are very stereotypical and easy to follow.

3) Which audiences prefer this genre?
From my research I have concluded that those between the ages of 16-25 prefer this genre. The general gender who prefer this genre is mainly male. However I can not tell what social class prefer horror movies but in my own research all participants were all middles class.

4) What else do I know about this group of people and what they want to see in a film?
I know that this group is very big on social media, constantly on track on what is going on and what films are good. Knowing this they would like to see relatable characters that resemble themselves to some degree.

5) What might I have in my film that will attract or appeal to them?
In my film to attract the audience I will need to build up a lot of suspense questions to intrigue my audience to want to know more and what is going to happen.

6) Who could my target or core audience be, based on this research?
My target audience from this research would b for those aged 18-14 as the film will have people around this age, making it more relatable. They would also be middle class peeple who live a modern lifestyle as the film itself using a lost of social media.

7) Who could my wider audience be? How do I know this?
My wider audience could be a slightly younger audience (from 15 years old and up) as today much younger audiences consume a wide range of media that may not be specifically targeted to them. They are more involved in what is being produced and consumed.



I have also gone onto YouGov profiles and as given a profile for someone who likes the horror movies Insidious and Scream.

As seen from this profile the information like age and interest are similar to my target audience for my film opening. This is the type of audience my title sequence is aimed at.
