Coraline: The title sequence begins with the name of the production company in a stitched sewing typography, which is the theme used throughout the movie the name of the title of the movie then appears of the screen in the same sewing typography but in a more messier, spikier effect creating a sinister atmosphere. This could make the audience assume that this is going to be a dark animation, going against normal stereotypes about animation as they are usually more 'child-friendly'. after the names of the actors appear in the order of appearance.
A voodoo type doll which is in a distorted shape flies through the sky and and into the window of a house where metallic hands grab the doll and place it on a desk. The sequence features low lit lighting indicating a sinister, unnatural story line. Once placed on the table the mise- en-scene implies that the doll is about to 'have an operation' because the shot features scissors, needles and other potentially harmful tools. The juxtaposition of the shot as the dolls eyes and stitching is being removed emphasies the sinister, slightly horrific element to this children film. the doll is then emptied and refilled. The refiled doll is made to look like the main character Coraline implying that the 'doll maker' now has a new victim. This title sequence would be classified as 'Titles using animation'.
At first it seems like a causal trip as Tony Stark is asked to take a selfie with one of the soldiers. But a few seconds later this idea is completely overturned with an explosion which is classified as an action code occurs. this explosion can be seen as an instant arousal as the viewers attention is defiantly captured as they would want to know what has happened and who has survived the fatal incident.
