8. Monsters Inc Title Sequence Anaysis

My all time favourite film is definitely Monsters Inc. This film is animated, so therefore has an animated title sequence. The use of bright colours throughout the sequence highlights that this movie is for children and is not targeted at adults. It has rhythmic jazz music which adds a joyful and light tone to the film. This is common in children's films as there usually is a happy ending. The animation of the monsters and the doors to replicate a child's real life fear of a monster in the closet is used to put forward the idea that monsters are not scary. The jazz music is there to cancel out any bad associations with monsters and make them seem funny.

The credits are similar to many movies in terms of order.

First there is the company ident which is Pixar.

Then the company presenting the film: Walt Disney

After, they have to distribution company: Pixar Animations Studios.

However they do not feature the actors involved in the movie. Though this seems odd, it is quite common in children's movies. This may be because the target audience will be very young and not know, nor care abut the actors in the film. Even though the company productions are featured, this may only be because it is a legal aspect to have in all film creations.

And finally they have the title of the movie: Monsters Inc
